International Sand Art Competition

Hosted by the Casa Marina, A Waldorf Astoria Resort in Key West, Florida

This event attracts thousands of people to Casa Marina Beach each year.

Sand sculptors from all over the world compete against each other on the largest privately owned beach in Key West, Florida, Thanksgiving weekend.

Amateur Sand Sculpting Competition

Sign up to build your own sand sculpture. Hurry up there are only 8 plots available!

For $50 you receive a tool kit with the essentials to build your own sand sculpture. Judges will be two of the professional sculptors. The winner or winning team will be announced shortly after 3 pm.

Kid's Bridge Building Workshop

Key West Art & Historical Society will take students on a history and engineering journey as they launch both a new ‘Overseas Railroad’ traveling STEM-based workshop (science, technology, engineering and math) and pop-up exhibit, funded by a grant received from William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust and host a hands-on bridge building workshop for children led by KWAHS Education Director Adele Williams this Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26. As artist’s craft incredible sand sculptures on the Casa Marina Resort beach, children are invited to join Ms. Williams and test their engineering genius by building bridges from unlikely tools such as duct tape, popsicle sticks, and pipe cleaners, with a competition to see who can build the sturdiest bridge

Friday Night...Movie Night

Bring a blanket or a chair and come watch the 1942 Classic 'Casablanca' with us on the beach while enjoying the ocean breeze.  If you have never seen the movie... Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), who owns a nightclub in Casablanca, discovers his old flame Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) is in town with her husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid). Laszlo is a famed rebel, and with Germans on his tail, Ilsa knows Rick can help them get out of the country.

Sand sculpting competition 2016

The competition kicks off at 8 am. The professional sculptors start by putting together forms that each will have to fill on their own with sand and water. Over the next three and a half days they will create their works of art.
